Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be the founder of a luxury candle business! I have a lot to thank this business for, it is my motivation to keep going and to give a little bit of French luxury into people's lives. It was August 2018 and I moved to Switzerland to be with my Husband.

This was not the plan, the plan was for my husband to come to Australia but the visa process was easier for me to relocate to Switzerland. I am a twice young widow and the mother of two beautiful children. My first husband, my son’s father, passed away in 2004 with lung cancer.

I started Codewithsharen after realizing that my community and our schools were so far behind in STEM Education.

Codewithsharen is a black women-owned company run by our technical founder Sharen Eddings. Sharen is a self-taught coder who, after eight months of teaching herself how to code, landed a job at an automotive software engineering company.

After volunteering in her son's school to teach him and his classmates how to code. Sharen realized there was a strong need for a better STEM E-Learning software and that she could develop it. It took her a couple of years after learning more programming languages; she achieved her goal. "When I realized urban students were learning how to play online coding games disguised as coding lessons.

I knew that I had to do something. My biggest regret was that I wasn't offered this type of education when I was in school. I knew we had something of great value when we landed a major vendor agreement with the Michigan Department of Economics and Labor. But unfortunately, Coronavirus shut down schools, and our contract was on hold. We had to pivot to another target market to stay in business and keep the doors open.

We found that parents were frustrated with their kid's excessive video gaming, so we knew that this was a target market that we could help.

I was born in Albania, a very small country in Europe.I immigrated to Italy in 1997, as in Albania there was a civil war at the time. I was only 16 years old and my parents were very scared and they decided that it would be better for us to move there. The journey was not easy, I was working and going to school at the same time. After finishing high school, I decided to go to dental school. It was my dream since I was a little girl to be a dentist. Dentistry was something that had always fascinated me. This does not mean that I wasn’t terrified to go to the dentist! Sure, I was, but I also found it very interesting. I used to say that when I become a dentist, I will help all the people who are scared like me, to look forward to their dental appointments. Now I see kids looking forward to their dental appointments, and adults as well.

In 2002, I met my husband and we decided to immigrate to Canada. It was only two young people with big dreams and not much else. We had very little information, but when you are young you don’t think too much. When we came to Canada, things were not as easy as we thought. I didn’t speak English and my school meant nothing here, so I had to start everything from scratch. It was quite difficult to say the least, but I was very determined to do something with my life and this was my chance. After many years of school and getting my license, I founded DentalX in 2013. Initially, DentalX started with only me, booking appointments in my car and seeing patients in the late afternoons or Sundays after I worked all day for other dental offices. Then, my next three offices I shared with other dental professionals until I was able to open my own office in 2016. Now I have an award-winning dental clinic in Toronto and I am in the process of opening my second location.

I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan. My father passed away in a car accident when I was 10 and my mother worked a lot, so at a young age, I learned to be independent. I got my first job at 15 and moved out on my own at 17.

During my first year of college, my mother prompted me to get my real estate license. After a very successful first few months, I decided to drop out of school and put 100% of myself into the business. Those first few years were a challenge, I was very successful but felt that my age was holding me back in so many ways. Shortly after I got married and moved to Pittsburgh. I took over a decade away from the business to be a mom. Having 3 children within 4 years' time. It was rough with no family, no career, and no friends.

Those were great times but also very challenging. I found myself in a very unhealthy and abusive relationship for far too long. My kids are my world but inside my soul I was screaming. The relationship got worse over time and too much for me to endure. We relocated as a family to Naples, FL August of 2016. I always had dreamed of living here and I had family in Naples.

During that first year, I obtained my FL real estate license and had plans to leave the marriage. One year later I found the courage to leave, during that same month I was diagnosed with stage one carcinoma, just starting my real estate business and going through a divorce within a 30-day time period. I had no money, 3 children to support on my own, and fighting cancer. I look back and wonder how I did it with no help, but I had no choice, I refuse to be a victim. I did everything I could and found ways to market with little money. Making cold calls, knocking on doors, sending handwritten letters, and getting out any chance I could to meet people in a new town. I remember taking the kids to bed and getting back on my computer at night until I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Putting my kids first and making sure I made the time for homework, soccer practice, and school events. I would wake up at 5 am while the kids were sleeping to go work out and be home to get them ready for school. Feeling good about yourself is a key to your professional success in my opinion. In just the past 3.5 years I have gone from having nothing to closing out 2020 with almost 20M in sales and projected to do close to 40M this year.

Launching my new business ‘Bulldog Homewatch’ in 2021 to complement my real estate business and to provide additional services for my clients. With an upcoming construction and design business launching in 2022. I’m down-to-earth, honest, and never pretend to be someone that I am not. After years 4 years of working 2-3 jobs 7 days a week, I decided that I needed a change, I wanted to do more with my life. I wanted a career but I couldn’t afford going college. In 2004, a year of trying to figure out what to do, a friend suggested attending real estate school. So I did.

Finally, after failing the real estate state exam 5 times, I passed and got a real estate license. I’ve always strived to be the best that I can be at whatever I do, and it was no different with real estate.

Like many entrepreneurs, I spent time, energy, and money on things that didn’t work but I always kept moving forward. I started marketing in Venezuela in 2007, and things started to change for me. About 2 years in with my brokerage an idea that could take my company to the next level was presented, It was scary and a huge financial risk.
